Evaluating Your Metadata Needs Assessment
In a
world of conflicting constraints, how will you decide how to balance new
standards, user demand, unique collection attributes and system
constraints? This workshop will help you with these real-world
challenges such as:
Which fields should you include? How many characters? What formats of
data? How much detail? How will this work with my existing search
engine? What about standards, will they work for me? We are on metadata
overload and determining which data is vital for successful searching is
a complex task. Attendees will look at creating a Needs Assessment
survey, and how to marry this with an existing or future system. An
overview of pluses and minuses of various standards will be included.
NOTE: AMP will have coffee, juice &
pastries available during this session
(12:00pm-2:00pm) BREAK FOR LUNCH. LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED
